Filling up to the posts of HSG I and Postmaster Grade III posts – Clarification


It was informed vide Postal Directorate letter no 4-19/2012 – SPB – II dated 02.05.2012 that the regular promotion to HSG – I can be made only after notification of revised Recruitment rules for HSG I which is under active consideration of UPSC and filling up the posts in Postmaster Grade III under initial constitution clause can be initiated only after the existing vacancies in HSG I are filled up on regular basis as per revised recruitment rules of HSG I, when notified. It was also informed that the provision of filling up of HSG I posts by ASPOs can not be operated as the posts of ASPOs are now Gazetted Posts where as HSG I posts though carry the same pay scale and classified as Group B are non Gazetted posts.

Government hikes interest rate on General Provident Funds to 8.8 pc for 2012-13


In a move which will benefit millions of employees, the government has hiked interest rate on contributions to General Provident Fund (GPF) and other similar funds to 8.8 per cent for 2012-13. 

The interest rate on such funds was 8.6 per cent during December 2011-March 2012 period, while it was 8 per cent for April-November 2011. 

"It is announced ... that during the year 2012-13, accumulations at the credit of subscribers to the General Provident Fund and other similar funds shall carry interest at the rate of 8.8 per cent per annum," the Finance Ministry said. 

The benefit of increased interest rate will be available to subscribers of Contributory Provident Fund (India), All India Services Provident Fund, State Railway Provident Fund and General Provident Fund (Defence Services). 

Contributors to Indian Ordnance Department Provident Fund, Indian Ordnance Factories Workmen's Provident Fund, Indian Naval Dockyard Workmen's Provident Fund, Defence Services Officers Provident Fund and Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund will also benefit from the move.

Holiday Homes – Change in advance booking period

Holiday Homes – Change in advance booking period
The Directorate of Estates has decided to reduce the time period for booking the rooms / suits in Holiday Homes and Touring Hostels. The advance booking are made generally up to ninety days for all rooms and suits in Holiday Homes, the department has now decided to revise booking time period from the present ninety days to sixty days for submission of application including online system through www.holidayhomes.nic.in

The decision has made due to validation of Bank Draft / Pay Order by RBI. All other terms and conditions of booking will remain the same.


CAT Ernakulam passes interim order in PS Group B Examination case

The Hon'ble CAT Ernakulam Bench passed an interim order  on Monday in favour of the applicants in OA No. 380/12 filed by Sri. M.P.Ramesh and Smt. V.Sarada. The applicants had approached the Tribunal aggrieved by the stand taken by the Department that the IP induction training period cannot be taken into account for determining the length of service required for the PS Group B Examination. When the said OA came up for admission on 21.05.12, the Hon'ble Tribunal passed an interim order directing the respondents to admit the applicants provisionally for the PS Group B examination scheduled to be held on 3.6.12 and also to issue OMR applications to the applicants.

   Secretary Department of Posts, informed that discussion with Secretary Generals and General Secretaries NFPE / FNPO will be held at 11AM on 21.05.2012 at Dak Bhawan to take concrete decision on remaining items of the Charter of Demands. More orders issued after the announcement of Hunger Fast programme. Remaining items will be clinched in the 21st meeting. In view of the above, THE CENTRAL JCA UNANIMOUSLY DECIDED TO DEFER THE HUNGER FAST PROGRAMME IN FRONT OF DAK BHAWAN AND CPMG OFFICES
