Speed Post Services


The network and number of the Speed Post Centres has recently been restructured under Mail Network Optimization Project of the Department of Posts. Speed Post Centres are either National Speed Post Sorting Hubs or Intra-Circle Sorting Hubs. There are 89 National Speed Post Sorting Hubs and 105 Intra Circle Sorting Hubs. A list of the Hubs, state-wise, is given in the tabular form.
          There is no proposal for creating any new Sorting Hub or Intra-Circle Hub in the year 2012-13.
 Department of Posts takes note of the deficiencies in services and complaints received in connection with Speed Post service are processed expeditiously and grievances settled in a time bound manner. The number of complaints received during the last 3 financial years and the percentage of complaints with respect to the Speed Post traffic is given as under:

 The Department of Posts has a well established mechanism for prompt disposal of complaints through Customer Care Centres in all Postal Divisions.
 In order to improve the quality of Speed Post service across the country the network has been restructured as stated at (a) above. The Department is shortly going to commission Automatic Mail Processing Centres in Delhi and Kolkata to expedite mail processing. In addition end –to-end track and trace has been provided for Speed Post articles. Above initiatives will help the Department to compete effectively with the private couriers.

India post releases commemorative stamps on London Olympics

LUCKNOW: In a bid to make London Olympics 2012 truly memorable for all particularly sports lovers and philatelists, the department of post has come up with a set of four commemorative stamps that have captured the spirit of sportsmanship. Department of posts, has issued a set of four commemorative postal stamps and a souvenir sheet on London Olympics. 

The set of four stamps show sports persons engaged in games like volleyball, rowing, sailing and badminton. Director, postal headquarters, UP, Sachin Kishor informed reporters that the stamps and souvenir sheet symbolize the athletic spirit. "The stamps would be available at the philatelic bureau at the general post office (GPO) and other post offices across the state. 

The two stamps with pictures of rowing and sailing are available for R 5 each and those with images of volleyball and badminton can be purchased for Rs 20 each," he said. Four lakh of each stamp and 20,000 souvenir sheets were printed at India Security Press, Nasik, Maharashtra. 

Postal stamps are released every month by the India Post. While some are based on events, others are dedicated to people, monuments, great personalities, places, art pieces or important objects. "For mega international events, a number of countries issue postal stamps.

Onam Festival- Central Government Employees of Kerala to get Salary for August-12 on 27th.

   In view of the ONAM festival,the Government of India have decided that the salary of all CENTRAL GOVERNMENT Employees in the state of Kerala for the month of August 2012, may be drawn and disbursed by the Central Government offices ( including defence,posts,telecommunications) on 27th August 2012.

AICPI (IW) for June-2012 released, DA from July-2012 will be 72%.

AICPI (IW) (All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers on Base 2001=100) for the month of June 2012, has been published by Government today. AICPI (IW) has increased from 206 to 208.

The Dearness Allowance payable to Central Government Employees and Pensioners is determined based on All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. After implementation of sixth pay commission, AICPI (IW) (Base 2001=100) is used to determine DA. DA for Central Government Employees and Pensioners has to be reviewed twice annually and revision if any would be payable with effect from 1st January and 1st July every year.

India Post Announces Special Discount of 6.5% on Gold Coins for Raksha Bandhan


For this Raksha Bandhan, India Post has announced a special discount of 6.5% on purchase of Gold coins. 

On 1st August 2012 any customer who buys gold from identified Post Offices in Delhi will get a special 6.5% discount of the day`s retail price on all denominations.This offer is available in all 31 Post Offices of Delhi indentified for the sale of Gold Coins. 

These gold coins bear unique logo of India Post and are available in denominations of 0.5 gms, 1gms, 5gms, 8gms, 10gms, 20gms & 50gms for sale across counters at select Post Offices. These coins are having purity rating of 24 karat 99.99% from Valcambi, under Swiss certification and are available in tamper-proof packaging having benefits like internationally recognized certification, low risk of duplication, quality packaging, product standardization and numbering with assayer certification. 

Holding of PA/SA Recruitment 2012-some important informations


Directorate has been issued orders for holding of PA/SA recruitment 2012 vide Memo No.A-34012/5/2011-DE dated 13/07/2012.  Some Important dates are placed here under for information.


1.Notification will be issued by the Circle Heads and Sale of Applications start from 11/08/2012.

2.Last date of sale of application forms is 25/09/2012.

3.Last date for submission of the application is 01/10/2012.

4. cost of the application is Rs.50/- and fee for examination is Rs.200/-.
 Fee has to be paid in to UCR/ACG-17 in any of the Post Office.
 Fee relaxation will be there for Women/PH/SC/ST Candidates.

5.Completed applications has to be sent to Direct Recruitment Cell,
 New Delhi HO, New Delhi-110001 through Speed Post/Regd.Post only. 
Applications sent through couriers will not be accepted.

6.Age: between 18 to 27 years for General category candidates,
 relaxation will be up to 3 years for OBCs and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
